Project Description:

We run a custom-built subscription page on our WordPress site that generates a structured JSON payload. When the user clicks "Checkout," the payload should be handed over to Chargebee: WordPress uses the Chargebee API to create a Hosted Checkout Page and redirects the user there. Everything else happens in Chargebee (registration, payment details, completion). All user data is stored exclusively in Chargebee — nothing is returned to WordPress. We use Chargebee Product Catalog 2.0. The Product Catalog still needs to be built.

Tasks:

Chargebee Setup (Product Catalog 2.0):
- Build the Product Catalog in Chargebee: Items and Item Prices for plan(s), add-ons, and charges (one-time fees), matching the structure of our JSON payload.
- Correct configuration of prices, quantities, billing cycles, currency, and taxes.

WordPress Integration (PHP):
- On the "Checkout" click, receive the JSON payload and use it to create a Hosted Checkout Page via the Chargebee API (Product Catalog 2.0, e.g. `checkout_new_for_items`).
- Map the JSON structure to the Chargebee objects: subscription items (plan + add-ons as item prices) and one-time fees as charges.
- Redirect the user to the generated Hosted Checkout URL.
- Ensure that the subscription, add-ons, and one-time fees are created correctly in Chargebee upon checkout completion.
- Secure, server-side handling of the Chargebee API key; use of the official Chargebee PHP SDK.
- Proper error handling if the creation of the checkout page fails (clear feedback to the user, logging).
- Brief technical documentation (catalog structure, mapping, configuration, API key handling).

Requirements

- Proven experience with Chargebee Product Catalog 2.0 (building Items/Item Prices) and the Hosted Pages / Checkout of the Chargebee API.
- Solid PHP/WordPress skills (integration into an existing site/plugin).
- Confident use of the Chargebee PHP SDK / API.
- Experience mapping JSON to billing objects.
- Test-driven approach, initially against a Chargebee test site.

Deliverable

A fully built Chargebee Product Catalog (1 product, 5 add-ons) (plan, add-ons, charges) plus a working WordPress integration that, on the "Checkout" click, creates a Chargebee Hosted Checkout Page from the JSON payload and redirects the user there, so that the subscription, add-ons, and one-time fees are created correctly upon completion. Including secure API key handling, error handling, and documentation.
