Automate Multi-Stage Shopify/ Mesa/ ShipStation Workflow
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
We’re Mile 27 — a upcycling startup turning marathon ponchos into custom running vests. Our operational success depends on a smooth, automated, multi-stage workflow:
- Ship a kit to the customer
- Customer sends poncho back
- We customize it
- Ship final vest out to customer
We want ALL of this automated across Shopify, Mesa, and ShipStation.
We have a clear blueprint and early pieces in place.
You’ll help us finish the system so that:
ShipStation events (kit shipped, return in transit, return delivered, final ship)
→ Trigger Mesa
→ Update Shopify tags + metafields
→ Fire Shopify Flow emails
→ Keep everything perfectly in sync
This system must run without any manual steps.
You should know:
- Shopify order tags + metafields
- Shopify Flow
- Mesa (ShopPad) automation triggers / filters
- ShipStation tagging + webhooks
- Multi-stage fulfillment flows (bonus if you’ve done RMAs or circular logistics)
What Success on This Project Looks Like:
A customer places an order → the system handles everything:
- Updates stages in Shopify
- Sends notifications at the right times
- Logs progress internally/externally
- Knows exactly when to transition from kit → return → customization → final shipment
If this is you please complete a short Loom video demonstrating the three items below:
1. Shopify
• Open an order metafield you have created or worked with
• Open any order and show where order metafields appear
• Briefly explain how you would update an order metafield using automation (Mesa or API)
2. Mesa
• Show any workflow you have built
• Click into a Filter step
• Show how you select variables from incoming webhook data
• Explain how you would filter for a shipment tag such as Return_Poncho
3. ShipStation
• Open any rule you have created
• Show where “Add a Tag to the Shipment” appears
• Explain the difference between Order Tags and Shipment Tags and where each is created
A few notes:
• You may blur or hide sensitive information
• No need for a polished presentation; familiarity with Shopify, Mesa, and Shipstation is what matters
• If you have relevant example projects, you can mention them briefly at the end
**Applicants who do not provide a loom will not be considered**
We look forward to hearing from you!
