I need a small yet reliable application that can take an incoming .doc or .docx file and turn it into .mobi or .odt, while also giving me the option to move in the opposite direction and cover .pdf as well. In short, whatever lands in the inbox—doc, docx, pdf, mobi, or odt—should be exportable to any of the others with the layout and basic metadata intact.
The runtime environment is open-ended; “other” in the form means I’m fine with a lightweight Linux command-line tool, a browser-based utility, or any framework you’re comfortable with as long as the finished product is easy to deploy and doesn’t chain me to a single OS. Feel free to leverage Calibre, Pandoc, LibreOffice headless, or comparable open-source libraries if that speeds things up—just bundle any licensing notes I may need to know.

• A short usage guide that shows at least one sample conversion for each of the supported formats
