Sourcing Comprehensive Media Database

**Project Title:**
Build or Source Comprehensive DVD / Blu-ray / CD / VHS Media Database (with API or Bulk Data)

**Project Description:**
I am building a private web-based media reference system (DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs, VHS) for use in my warehouse and purchasing workflow.

The goal is to access or build a **comprehensive media database** that contains detailed information about physical media titles, ideally including and not limited to:

* Movie / album title
* Format (DVD, Blu-ray, CD, VHS)
* Barcode (EAN/UPC) — very important
* Release year
* Genre
* Region code (for DVDs/Blu-rays)
* Video format (PAL / NTSC, etc.)
* Country
* Disc count (where applicable)

**What I am looking for:**

I am looking for someone who can help me with **one of the following (or a combination):**

1. Identify and provide access to an existing database/API that contains this type of media information
2. Source or supply a **bulk dataset** (CSV / SQL / JSON) of DVD/CD/Blu-ray titles
3. Build a method to **aggregate data from multiple sources** into a usable format
4. Provide guidance on the **best approach to building and maintaining this database long-term**

**Important Notes:**

* I am NOT looking for scraped data that violates terms of service
* Data must be legally usable for internal business use
* Barcode (EAN/UPC) matching is highly desirable
* Accuracy and completeness are more important than fancy features
* This will be used as a **reference tool**, not a public-facing platform

* MusicBrainz (for CDs)
* Open datasets
* Licensed/commercial datasets (if available)

**Ideal Candidate:**

* Experience working with APIs and large datasets
* Knowledge of media databases (movies/music)
* Experience with data aggregation or normalization
* Ability to recommend practical, cost-effective solutions

**Deliverables (flexible depending on approach):**

* Recommendation of best data source(s)
* Working API integration OR bulk dataset
* Clean, structured data ready for import (CSV/SQL)
* Optional: basic integration guidance with PHP/MySQL system

Open to proposals depending on approach and data source quality.

* Quickly identifying media items while sourcing stock
* Matching titles/barcodes to known data
* Supporting a growing internal database of thousands of items
