Migrate Ruby App, Build APIs
Budget: $30 – $250 CAD
My production Ruby application is running on AWS, but the monthly bill is larger than it needs to be. I need it moved to a simpler, lower-cost host while keeping everything—from environment variables to background jobs and the database—in perfect working order. I’m open to Heroku, DigitalOcean, Linode, or any other host you can recommend that hits the sweet spot of price and ease of use.
Once the site is safely live on its new home, I’ll want to circle back and extend the codebase with new API endpoints. For now, let’s focus on a clean migration and set the foundation so adding those endpoints later will be straightforward.
Deliverables
1. Fully operational app running on the new host, with SSL, log rotation, and automated backups configured.
2. Deployment documentation (commands, configs, and any one-click images you create).
3. A brief outline showing how the codebase can accommodate additional API endpoints after migration.
If you have solid experience deploying Ruby (or Rails) apps and can keep downtime to an absolute minimum, I’d love to hear how you would tackle this.
