Digital Health Backend Architecture

Job ID: 40153686

Budget: €18 – €36 EUR

This brief centres on drafting a solid, future-proof backend blueprint for a forthcoming digital health research platform. At this stage nothing will be built in code; the goal is to crystallise the architecture so Phase 2 developers can move straight into implementation with minimal guess-work.

Scope
The work spans high-level system design, an API structure outline, initial data models and an analytics flow concept. Core components to be addressed are: data storage and management, user authentication and authorisation, and data analytics/processing. Relational databases—specifically MySQL or PostgreSQL—should sit at the heart of the storage layer, while OAuth will anchor the authentication strategy. All diagrams and documentation must weave in security hardening and horizontal scalability from the outset, acknowledging HIPAA-style sensitivities common to healthcare data.

Deliverables
• Architecture diagrams showing services, data flows and trust boundaries
• Conceptual API documentation (end-points, verbs, expected payloads, error strategy)
• A concise technical summary explaining design decisions, trade-offs and Phase 2 readiness steps

Each document should be clear enough for another engineer to pick up and begin implementation without additional clarification.
