Custom Google Programmable Search Engine
Budget: $2,500 – $10,000 USD
I need a standalone search component built with Google Programmable Search Engine and the Programmable Search Element Control API, then dropped into an existing site as a new page. The page must feel colorful and vibrant to match the rest of the site and work seamlessly on desktop, tablets, and mobile.
Core behavior
• Users choose whether to search the open web or a curated set of sources. For the curated option the first release should cover leading e-commerce and social-media domains; I want the list stored so I can expand or edit it later without touching code.
• After the query runs, results must be refinable by multiple, stackable filters: date published, content type, source credibility and free-text keywords. Filters should update results instantly without a full page refresh.
• All calls, quotas and keys must be handled through the Element Control API rather than the older JavaScript widget so I can track usage and extend the feature set later.
Design & integration
The search box, filter controls and results area need a responsive, brightly colored UI that inherits my site’s fonts and header/footer. CSS should be delivered in a separate file; please avoid framework lock-in so vanilla HTML/CSS/JS is preferred unless a lightweight library adds clear value.
Deliverables
1. Source code with clear comments.
2. One configuration file (or CMS snippet) where I can add/remove allowed domains.
3. Setup notes covering API enablement, quota management and embedding instructions.
4. A brief video or screenshots that prove the filters work across both the curated and global modes.
Acceptance is complete when the component runs in my staging environment, performs the stated filters and passes a quick Lighthouse check for basic performance and accessibility.
If you have prior work using Google Programmable Search Element Control API and a portfolio of colourful interfaces, let’s talk.
