Client-Side Technical Advisor (Short-Video Mobile App – Advisory, NOT Delivery)
Budget: $25 – $50 USD
I’m the founder of a consumer-facing mobile app (iOS & Android – React Native).
The product is a short-video social app, focused on video upload and playback (not live streaming).
I already have a development vendor hired and a signed SOW.
This role is NOT for hands-on coding or delivery.
I’m looking for a senior technical advisor to act on the client side (my side, advising ME), protecting the product quality, architecture, scalability, security, and long-term technical decisions.
⸻
What I need (very important)
I need someone who can:
• Review and critically assess the vendor’s proposed architecture
• Challenge and validate decisions related to:
- scalability
- security
- video upload & playback
- storage lifecycle and cost efficiency
• Review video-related technical choices, including:
- upload handling
- encoding / formats
- playback performance
- CDN usage
- storage growth and cost risks
• Cross-check SOW vs Figma vs actual implementation
• Identify missing elements (data schemas, edge cases, non-functional requirements)
• Review weekly sprint deliveries and provide clear “accept / do not accept” guidance
• Flag technical debt, shortcuts, or risky implementations early
• Ask the questions I don’t know how to ask, especially around video, scale, and security
You will not write code.
You will not deliver features.
You will not bring a team.
You act as my technical conscience and second brain.
⸻
Profile I’m looking for
• Former CTO, Lead Engineer, Software Architect, or Technical Advisor
• Hands-on experience with consumer-facing apps, ideally social video-based products
• Experience with short-video platforms, media-heavy apps, or feed-based products
• Strong understanding of:
• mobile app architecture
• backend systems
• APIs & data modeling
• video upload & playback pipelines
• Experience reviewing and challenging external vendors or agencies
• Clear, structured communication (no sales talk, no ego)
• Comfortable saying “this is wrong” and explaining why
⚠️ This is not a delivery role. Independence from implementation is required.
⸻
Engagement model
• Initial deep-dive review (architecture, SOW, roadmap)
• Followed by light but continuous advisory support during weekly sprints
• Independent from delivery (no conflict of interest, you will work with me oversighting the delivery agency).
