1D Barcode System Setup
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
I have been using a percon barcode scanner with a program that scans the barcode, updates the database and then i downpour the file as a text file. The problem is the old technology for the transfer is no longer working (Tfr32 utility) - so, i can't get the scanner to communicate with the computer. If like to upgrade - or, get the existing system to work.
So we originally placed a barcode on each bottle of chemical in the inventory. We manually entered that into a database. I had someone write the software that we loaded onto the scanner. I use the transfer utility to put the specific database for that school onto the scanner. Then, I scan it and it does thing it organizes and updates and changes amounts and so on as I'm scanning the inventory, then I hook it back up to my computer to download the file,. However, that transfer utility is no longer working. And it's not as simple as being able to connect, open and drag and drop the updated text file, so I'm sort of stuck right now not being able to scan these inventories.
I'm happy to buy new scanners - but, they at will have to be programmed to create /update he text file that I can use with my existing database. Or, if you can figure out some way to make this transfer utility work with my old technology. But I fear these scanners, at some point are going to not be working anymore.
I'm sorry -- I do realize this is 20-year-old technology. But I'm sort of stuck with what I have. I'm not the most tech-savvy person in the world, but I can follow instructions. I know enough to do damage. So I'm afraid to reprogram my existing scanners, and I can't figure out how to get this transfer utility to work. Believe me, I've tried
