Help with subdomain htaccess rewrite

I have a website running WordPress at https://domain.com and I just created a new blog using subdomain and a second installation of WordPress at https://blog.domain.com. Both of these are currently up and running and working fine.
However, now I need consultation as to what do I need to do in order to make it appear to the user that there is no subdomain, instead, I want the new blog to work via URL https://domain.com/blog/*
I believe what I need is first a htaccess redirect from https://domain.com/blog/ to https://blog.domain.com/ AND then a htaccess rewrite from https://blog.domain.com/ to https://domain.com/blog/. I already did the redirect and it's working. But I'm unable to figure out how to do the URL rewrite.
