Senior Java Kafka Developer Needed

I’m modernising an enterprise-grade platform and need a seasoned Java backend engineer (6 + years) who is truly at home with Apache Kafka. The two core missions are clear: build out new business features and drive measurable performance gains across the existing services.
Kafka underpins our integration layer, linking internal modules with a handful of external partners. You’ll design and refine topics, producers, and consumers, ensure fault tolerance, and keep latency low while throughput rises. Expect to work with modern Java (we’re on 17), Spring/Spring Boot, Git, and a standard CI pipeline; if you have alternative tooling preferences that achieve the same results, I’m open to them.
Deliverables
• Clean, well-tested Java service code for each new feature
• Kafka integration layer (topics, schemas, producers, consumers) documented and deploy-ready
• Performance benchmarks demonstrating the optimisation achieved
Code reviews happen through pull requests, and a green CI build is required before merge. We meet briefly each day (EST-morning overlap is plenty) to unblock issues; otherwise, you manage your own time.
