Vortex-Induced Vibration Simulation of a Two-Span Euler Beam with Ring Constraint (Strain Time History Output Required)
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Vortex-Induced Vibration Simulation of a Two-Span Euler Beam with Ring Constraint (Strain Time History Output Required)
Project Description:
I’m looking for a simulation expert to model and analyze a vortex-induced vibration (VIV) problem involving a cylindrical Euler-Bernoulli beam with the following setup:
The beam has two spans, total length 3 meters
Left end fixed, right end pinned
In the middle of the beam, there is a ring support with a gap between the ring and the pipe (possible contact/collision may occur)
The structure is subjected to uniform flow (equal velocity in all directions)
Objectives:
Perform structural dynamic simulation under vortex-induced vibration (VIV) conditions
Model the contact effect of the middle ring support (gap between pipe and ring varies from 0 to 20 mm)
Extract the time history of strain (second derivative of displacement) in streamwise and crossflow directions at a point of interest on the beam
Preferably match the output to real-world data I provide (curve alignment is important)
Software Preferred:
COMSOL Multiphysics / ANSYS Transient Structural + Fluent / ABAQUS + CFD / or equivalent that supports FSI + contact.
Deliverables:
Simulation files (including setup and parameters)
Exported strain time-history data (CSV or Excel format)
Figures/plots of the streamwise and crossflow strain over time
Short documentation on assumptions, boundary conditions, and how to run the model
