Pressure Hull FEA and Optimization (Ansys)
Budget: ₹600 – ₹1,500 INR
Project Title:
Static FEA Optimization of Ring-Stiffened Pressure Hull (Ansys)
Project Description:
I am seeking an FEA specialist to perform a comparative structural analysis on a cylindrical pressure hull. The objective is to identify the most efficient scantling arrangement by analyzing the relationship between frame spacing, weight, and Von Mises stress.
1. Structural Parameters
Geometry: Cylindrical shell with hemispherical (dome) ends.
Diameter: 6.2 m.
Total Length: 67 m.
Stiffeners: Internal ring frames (T-sections).
Loading: Uniform external hydrostatic pressure (specific depth value will be provided).
2. Scope of Work
Modeling: Build a parametric model in Ansys that allows for rapid iteration of ring frame spacing and thickness.
Analysis: Perform Linear Static Structural Analysis for multiple configurations.
Comparative Study: Evaluate how changing the frame spacing affects the structural integrity versus the total weight of the hull.
3. Required Deliverables
Full Ansys Project Files: Including geometry, mesh, and solution settings.
Analytical Plots:
Maximum Von Mises Stress vs. Frame Spacing.
Total Structural Weight vs. Frame Spacing.
Maximum Deformation vs. Weight.
Optimization Result: A clear recommendation on the arrangement that provides the best weight-to-strength efficiency.
4. Freelancer Skills
Proficiency in Ansys Mechanical (Workbench).
Background in Mechanical, Structural, or Marine Engineering.
Ability to generate clean, professional stress contour plots and data charts.
