Open-Channel k-ω CFD Solution -- 2
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I have an Ansys Fluent 2024 R2 model of an open-channel flow that reaches numerical convergence but the flow field is still not fully developed along the length. My ultimate goal is to study turbulence effects with a k-omega formulation, so I need the simulation refined until velocity, k and ω profiles are spatially invariant in the fully-developed zone.
The inlet is set through a specified-velocity boundary condition; everything else can be adjusted as long as the physics remain consistent with an open channel (free-surface) configuration. I am open to mesh re-design, domain extension, improved initialization, or more robust residual and monitor setups—whatever is required to achieve a truly developed solution.
Deliverables
• Updated .cas and .dat files that run in Fluent 2024 R2
• Evidence of development: plots of velocity, k and ω at several downstream sections showing overlap, plus residual and monitor histories
• A short note (PDF or DOC) summarising what was changed—mesh details, models, discretisation schemes, under-relaxation tweaks, etc.
I will test your files on my end; acceptance is confirmed once I observe matching fully-developed profiles with my own post-processing scripts in Fluent.
