CFD Evaluation: Servo Motor Fan Retrofit

Job ID: 40583735

Budget: ₹750 – ₹1,250 INR

I need a thorough CFD study that compares our current 190 mm external cooling fan assembly with a compact 90 mm exhaust fan for the SIMOTICS M-1PH8 (1PH8186-1FF03-1LA1) servo motor. The goal is to confirm that downsizing the fan does not compromise cooling efficiency and, if possible, to outline any design tweaks that would make the swap viable.

Both configurations must be simulated under the exact same operating envelope—ambient temperature range, motor load conditions, and the existing ventilation setup—so the results are directly comparable. I am primarily interested in efficiency, so please place particular focus on airflow distribution, pressure characteristics, and overall thermal performance when interpreting the data.

What I expect from you:
• A validated CFD model for each fan option (Ansys Fluent, CFX, or comparable solver are all acceptable).
• Side-by-side plots and quantitative results for airflow, pressure, and temperature fields.
• A short, clear report (PDF) summarizing findings, highlighting whether the 90 mm fan can match or exceed the present cooling performance, and recommending any geometric or operational adjustments needed to meet efficiency targets.
• Native simulation files so we can reproduce or extend the work internally.

If you have prior experience analyzing electric-motor cooling or similar retrofits, let me know; that will help me judge timeline and depth of analysis.
