Beginner Network Automation Bootcamp
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I am organising a live, online training series aimed at absolute beginners who want to break into network automation. Over several instructor-led sessions we need to move from “what is a script?” all the way to confidently automating common switch / router tasks and speaking about the topic in an interview.
Scope of content
• Basics of scripting: simple Python, interacting with the CLI, and understanding how automation fits into day-to-day operations.
• Network device configuration: pushing templates, using libraries such as Netmiko or NAPALM, and introducing tools like Ansible where relevant.
• Network monitoring & management: collecting data with REST, NETCONF or SNMP, building quick dashboards, and validating configs.
• Interview preparation: mock questions, best-practice explanations, and guidance on showcasing a personal lab or GitHub repo.
Session format
Everything happens live on Zoom or a similar platform so trainees can ask questions in real time. I expect a mix of slide explanations, code walkthroughs and hands-on labs that students can replicate on a local GNS3/EVE-NG or DevNet sandbox. Recordings and lab guides should be shared after each class so no-one falls behind.
Deliverables
1. A detailed syllabus with session objectives and prerequisites.
2. Slide decks, code samples and lab topology files.
3. Links or PDFs for additional reading and practice questions.
4. A short quiz or practical assignment at the end of the course to confirm understanding, plus personalised feedback.
Acceptance criteria
• All four topic areas above are covered at a beginner’s pace.
• At least 80 % of demos must be reproducible on free or open-source tools.
• Trainees should complete the final assignment in under two hours with minimal guidance.
• Interview prep segment must include at least ten real-world questions and model answers.
