Forensic Review of Truck ELD
Budget: $5,000 – $10,000 USD
I’m preparing a legal case and need a seasoned ELD-compliance specialist to determine whether a trucking company falsified a driver’s electronic logs. The focus is on three specific data sets: Driver Pre-Trip Inspections, Driver Post-Trip Inspections, and Hours of Service Records.
Right now I don’t yet have direct access to the truck’s Electronic Logging Device, but I can secure the raw data through a court order. Once the data is in hand, I want a comprehensive, defensible investigation that will stand up in deposition or trial.
Scope of work
• Secure-file intake and validation of the original Electronic Logging Device Entries, plus any supporting Logs or notes from the driver.
• Forensic extraction of back-end metadata to reveal edit histories, user IDs, time stamps, and software versioning.
• Cross-check of inspection logs against ECM data, GPS breadcrumbs, fuel receipts, and any other available telematics to flag anomalies.
• Identification of manual edits, unauthorized deletions, or out-of-sequence entries that indicate tampering.
• Clear, illustrated report detailing methods, findings, and regulatory citations (FMCSA, 49 CFR Part 395).
• Optional: sworn affidavit and expert-witness testimony, if required.
I value meticulous documentation, a chain-of-custody mindset, and experience with leading ELD platforms such as Omnitracs, KeepTruckin/Motive, Samsara, or similar. If you’ve previously prepared evidentiary reports for litigation, please highlight that work when you respond.
Timeline is flexible but I’d like preliminary findings within two weeks of receiving the data.
