Today I Wrote Nothing
Budget: £250 – £750 GBP
A short animated film adaptation of the collective writings of Russian avant-garde absurdist, Daniil Kharms. 'Today I Wrote Nothing' is a series of short poems, stories and "events" that encapsulate the collective consciousness of Stalinist Russia.
In this adaptation, we are looking to modernise and translate the cultural specifics of Soviet Russia to a global audience. The film can be classified as a dark comedy, with imagery and scenarios that begin mundanely, then become wildly surreal. It is a fun, adult oriented anthology made up of short, snappy vignettes of everyday life.
I am looking to collaborate with an animator and get advice on the best stylistic approach for the project. I am the writer, but have no experience in animation. I would like the animation to feel unpolished and spontaneous. I have attached some examples.
This project is in the very early stages. Funding will likely be crowdsourced, however, I would like to get an idea on the general cost of animation projects. This is a completely independent project that requires an enthusiastic and knowledgeable animation crew to collaborate closely with the writer/director and music composition team.
Thank you,
Jonathan
