Exciting Children’s Book Project – 65 Papercut-Style Illustrations – Let’s Create Magic Together!
Budget: €8 – €250 EUR
⸻
Project Description:
Hello! I’m looking for a talented and reliable illustrator to create 65 cohesive illustrations for my upcoming children’s book titled “Elliot’s Journey.” The story follows a curious little dog named Elliot on an emotional and colorful adventure through twelve chapters – each featuring a new animal friend and a new environment.
The style I’m looking for is a stylized digital imitation of papercut / layered paper art: clean, minimal, colorful, and dreamlike. Think simple shapes, bold colors, clear compositions, and a warm atmosphere – ideal for children aged 4–8.
⸻
Total Number of Illustrations: 65
For each of the 12 chapters, I need:
1. 1 Environment Scene
• No animals
• Represents the location of the chapter (e.g., a forest, beach, cave, mountain)
• Serves as a chapter opener / header illustration
= 12 Pictures
2. 1 Full Illustration of the New Animal Alone
• Each chapter introduces one new animal
• The animal should be in its natural environment
• Must match the papercut style and visual identity
= 11 Pictures
3. 1 Full Illustration of the Animal Together with Elliot
• Elliot is a fluffy, playful Chinese Crested Powderpuff dog
• He has cream-colored fur with a hint of light brown and large amber eyes
• His look is soft, clever, and slightly mischievous
• The scene should reflect their interaction or connection in that chapter
= 11 Pictures
4. 2 Small Portraits / Close-ups of the Animal
• Front view of the face
• Second detail or expressive pose
= 22 Picutres
5. Additional 7 Pictures to view some epic scenes in the storyline.
= 7 Pictures
6. 1 papercut styled portrait of me.
= 1 Picture
7. Book Cover
= 1 Picture
⸻
File Format & Delivery:
• High-resolution PNG (minimum 300 dpi)
• Optional: Layered PSD or vector files (preferred, but not mandatory)
• Format: Square or A5 (to be discussed)
• All files organized by chapter and type
⸻
Style Examples:
I will provide personal reference photos of myself and Elliot (the dog) which can be used for guidance. . However, I want to emphasize that the artist has full creative freedom to interpret and adjust the scenes as they see fit. I also provide examples of the papercut look I envision, and visual notes for each chapter. If you have similar works, please share them!
⸻
Timeline:
• Flexible: Ideally within 4–6 weeks, or based on mutual agreement
• Delivery can be chapter by chapter, or in two batches
⸻
• I’m happy to support your visibility and name in the book’s credits and promotional materials
⸻
Ideal Illustrator:
• Strong sense of composition, color and style consistency
• Enjoys illustrating for children’s books
• Can bring warmth, charm and emotion into simplified forms
• Communicative, structured and excited about creative storytelling
⸻
Interested? Let’s talk!
Please send me:
• A short message about you and your work
• Links to your portfolio
• A few words on how you would approach the project
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Warm greetings from Germany,
Nicolai
