Digital Animator for New Youtube Series -- 2
Budget: £250 – £750 GBP
I'm in search of a 2D animator to join me in creating a new cartoon series for YouTube. Here's what the project entails:
- Style: The preferred style for my project is digital animation. The look and feel of projects like the "Cyanide and Happiness" show is the general aesthetic I'm after. A knack for blending humor with a unique animation style will be significant in this project.
- Target Audience: The content is oriented towards older children (9 years and above) and adults, so the animations should engage this demographic.
In terms of skills and experience, applicants should have:
- Proven experience in digital animation
- A portfolio showcasing a broad array of styles
- Strong creative flair and artistic talents
- Good communication and interpretative skills will be a plus, as we will be working closely to create a compelling series.
We imagine a roughly 3 minute episode in the style of Cyanide and Happiness shorts, or maybe even simpler. The story includes two main characters that we already have designs for and we can provide, and a few other temporary characters that show up from time to time that would need to be designed. Some sound effects and low volume background music would be ideal as well, as we plan to overlay our own narration for the story on top.
Please find attached a couple of example images of some our characters. Our pilot episode will include the Witch character and the one character with glasses, holding a Coming Soon sign.
In terms of scenes, we have an idea for most of them, there are a few that we are particular about but there are also scenes for which we are flexible and would appreciate any expert suggestions. An example of scenes is listed below.
In total we have around 25 scenes of similar duration and style. I hope this helps
Scene 1
Narration: Once upon a time there was a witch called Marge. She was with child,
Scene description: Camera shows Marge’s head, she is looking down and camera pans down to her pregnant belly, she is stroking the belly
Scene 2
Narration: and under the attack of a gazillion of relentless angry trolls
Scene description: Camera from behind her shoulder, she is looking out the window and sees trolls, carrying weapons and torches, coming towards her tower. The weather is stormy with dark blue clouds lightning bolts here and there
Scene 3
Narration: As the trolls charge towards her tower, Marge, with her mastery of spells, fights valiantly,
Scene description: Camera at a distance showing a large number of trolls approaching and climbing the tower. At the same time, Marge is zapping trolls from the window with her wand. Trolls turn into ash when zapped.
Scene 4
Narration: but the sheer number of trolls eventually overpower her.
Scene description: Camera close up on marge’s window as she zapps trolls, but more and more trolls approach the window from all directions. Camera zooms out slowly as the window becomes completely obscured by the trolls.
