Non-Fungible Earth
Budget: £5,000 – £10,000 GBP
We are a team of four students, based in England, who are creating a company called Non-Fungible Earth in which we will launching NFT generative art collections to raise money and donate to various environmental charities over the next few years. Our first season is called “Rumble in the Jungle” (launching on July 1st) and has the goal of donating all profits to NGOs and companies related to rainforest conservation, afforestation and re-wilding.
Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) are in simple terms, a unique identifier that can be assigned via a crypto currency blockchain that prove ownership of a product. These products can range from digital art to virtual avatars and outfits. We have chosen to do NFT art as this is the biggest section in the NFT marketplace. NFTs are bought for a number of reasons: as an investment, as a luxury product or as a token of membership into a community. We aim to address all of these reasons to buy an NFT and create a win-win scenario between the buyer and the planet, the buyer receives his NFT and money is raised to help our non-fungible planet. The NFT market is growing incredibly fast, tenfold in the last 2 years, and there is very little being done to benefit the environment in this market. In fact, cryptocurrencies, the currency that NFTs are bought and sold with are usually detrimental to the environment due to the large amounts of energy needed for mining and transactions. We have managed to bypass this obstacle as we will be using a blockchain called Solana, a carbon neutral blockchain that is known for its incredibly energy efficient transaction, using 99.9% less energy than Bitcoin per transaction. In fact, a single Solana transaction uses less energy than 2 google searches. Furthermore, Solana is the fastest growing blockchain in the world due to its very fast transaction speed and low transaction cost.
Our first NFT collection is called Rumble in the Jungle and 100% of all profits will be given to charities. For this season, the mascot for our art will be tigers as they are considered by many the face of the jungle and are also one of the most endangered apex predators in the world. We will be releasing 3900 pieces of art as this is the estimate for how many of these precious animals are left in the world. Each NFT will be sold for 2.5 Solana, the equivalent of around $200. We therefore have calculated that if we sell out our collection we will raise a total of approximately $700,000 (minus expenses) which we would donate to NGOs involved in rainforest habitat rewilding and protection, animal conservation, protection of indigenous tribes and other good causes to do with protecting rainforests around the world.If you would like more information regarding our project, here is the link to our website: https://www.nonfungibleearth.com
