Upwork Job Title

Full-Stack Lead Developer – Takeover Existing Property-Tech App & Finish Backend Modules (Fixed Price)

Job Post Description (Fixed Price)

I’m hiring a senior full-stack developer / technical lead to take over an existing property-tech platform and deliver it to a stable, launch-ready state.

The backend is modular and already built, but there are ~10 pending backend modules (50+ endpoints) that must be completed and integrated properly, plus bug fixes, testing, and documentation.

Product

NyumbanApp – tenant & landlord rental management.

Tech Stack
• Node.js (v18), Express.js
• Prisma ORM, PostgreSQL
• JWT authentication, validation (Joi or similar)
• Postman or Swagger documentation

Pending Modules to Integrate (examples)
• Agreement management (core + landlord + tenant)
• Agreement termination flows
• Payment management
• Refund payments + manual refunds
• Manual tenant registration
• Reviews & feedback
• Tenant management (rent history, reminders, deposits)

What I Need You to Deliver
• Audit the existing codebase and produce a clear plan
• Implement the missing modules + DB updates (Prisma migrations)
• Fix bugs and enforce consistent API patterns (auth, validation, errors)
• Add essential tests (unit/integration) and working documentation
• Provide a clean handover so my team can maintain it

Fixed Price Milestones (Recommended)

Milestone 1 — Codebase Audit & Delivery Plan

Deliverables
• Audit report: what works, what’s missing, key risks, quick wins
• Module integration plan: order of build, dependencies, DB changes
• Final milestone schedule + cost breakdown
Acceptance
• Clear written plan + repo walkthrough notes + confirmed scope list

Milestone 2 — Agreements Completed (Core + Landlord + Tenant)

Deliverables
• Agreement management module integrated (CRUD, preview, share, download, batch ops)
• Tenant accepts/signs agreement flow working
• Landlord agreement listing/filtering working
Acceptance
• Demo via Postman collection / Swagger + sample data showing the full flow

Milestone 3 — Payments & Tenant Management

Deliverables
• Payment management module integrated (landlord payments list + payment detail)
• Tenant management endpoints working (tenants list, rent history, reminders, deposits)
• Notifications hook for reminders (basic)
Acceptance
• Landlord can view tenant rent history + latest payment; reminders trigger correctly

Milestone 4 — Termination + Refunds + Manual Tenant Registration + Reviews

Deliverables
• Agreement termination flows (uploads, confirm/cancel, breach/mutual/admin response)
• Refund + manual refund flows recorded correctly
• Manual tenant registration working
• Reviews/feedback submit endpoint working with rules
Acceptance
• State transitions verified; no double-refunds; permissions enforced

Milestone 5 — Stabilisation, Tests, Docs & Handover

Deliverables
• Bug fixing + refactor for consistency (auth/ownership checks, validations, errors)
• Essential tests added (minimum critical integration tests)
• Updated documentation (Postman collection + README)
• Deployment notes (env vars, db setup, run commands, optional Docker)
Acceptance
• Clean run from scratch instructions + passing tests + complete Postman suite

How to Apply (Answer These)
1. Share 2–3 examples of similar systems you completed (backend-heavy).
2. In week 1 of takeover, what are your first 5 steps?
3. Have you delivered Prisma migrations in production? Explain your approach.
4. What overlap hours can you do with UK time?

Important

This is a fixed-price contract with milestone payments. I need someone who can take ownership, communicate clearly, and ship.

Start: Immediate

Optional: Fixed Price Budget Line (you can include or leave out)

If you want, paste one of these:
• Budget: £1,500–£3,500 (depending on audit results + scope confirmation)
or
• Budget: Open — fixed price after Milestone 1 audit

If you want it even tighter, tell me:
• Do you want backend only or backend + mobile integration testing?
I can adjust the milestones to match that exactly (without changing your fixed-price structure).
