YouTube Mobile Website Wrapper App
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I am looking for an experienced developer to create an Android app that wraps YouTube’s mobile website (https://m.youtube.com) in order to closely mimic the look and feel of the native YouTube mobile app.
Requirements:
- Platform: Android
- Technology: No specific restrictions, but if all else is equal, React Native is preferred
- The app must work on most Android devices (phones and tablets)
- Fully responsive design supporting landscape and portrait orientation
- The app must always use Dark Mode
- No address bar or navigation bar visible in the app
- Back button should function similarly to the YouTube app (i.e., navigate within the webview history before exiting)
- Ability to apply modifications, e.g., hide all Shorts content
- YouTube videos must play as normal
- All core YouTube features (search, login, play videos, etc.) should work as normal
Deliverables:
- APK file ready for installation
- Git repository containing the full source code and build instructions
Milestones:
1. Working and tested APK demonstrating the above requirements
2. Final delivery of source code and documentation
Measurable items for testing:
- App loads https://m.youtube.com by default in Dark Mode
- No address bar or navigation bar is visible
- Back button correctly navigates within the browsing history
- Videos can be searched and played without issues
- User can log in and access their YouTube account
- App responds correctly to device rotation (landscape and portrait)
- Shorts content is hidden (or other specified modifications applied)
- App exits gracefully with back navigation
- APK installs and runs on various Android versions and screen sizes
- No unexpected popups or errors interrupting the user experience
