Wind Flow Simulation Android App

Job ID: 39141219

Budget: €30 – €250 EUR

Project Description: Development of a new Android app for 2D wind flow simulation, based on the old "WindTunnel CFD" app. The app should provide an easy way to input terrain contours and visually display the resulting wind flows and leewind vortices.

Features & Requirements
1. User Interface (UI)
Start screen with the following options:
Start new simulation
Import SVG file
Settings
Main workspace:
Drawing tool for creating a 2D terrain contour
Option to import an SVG file (for using external map data)
Zoom & pan view (multi-touch gestures for smartphones & tablets)
2. Physical Simulation
Simple 2D flow simulation (no full CFD calculation)
Calculation of wind flow over obstacles (e.g. mountains, cliffs, hills)
Display of leewind vortices and turbulence
Real-time visualization of pressure differences (color coding possible)
Parameter settings:
Wind speed & wind direction
Air density (optional for better accuracy)
Map scaling
3. Visualization & Display
Streamlines to visualize airflow
Colored pressure distribution (e.g. Blue = low pressure, Red = high pressure)
Particle animation for a clear depiction of air movement
Transparency and color adjustments for better readability
4. Platform & Technology
Development for Android (smartphones & tablets)
Use of Kotlin or Java for app development
Use of C++ (NDK) or OpenGL for fast physical calculations (optional)
No server connection – the calculation runs entirely offline
5. Export & Storage
Ability to save screenshots or short simulations as GIFs/videos
Save & load projects
6. Performance & Optimization
Optimization for real-time simulation on modern Android devices
Resource-efficient calculations, supporting even older smartphones/tablets
7. Future Expansion Options
Support for iOS
3D simulation
Advanced CFD models
Additional Developer Requirements
Experience with Android development (Kotlin or Java)
Knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) or flow simulations is a plus
Experience with SVG rendering and drawing functions
Experience with Physics engines or C++ optimizations for real-time calculations is a plus
Budget & Timeline:

Budget: Negotiable, depending on implementation
Timeline: 4-8 weeks for an initial functional version
