Terms of Reference – HDMI-IN Development for Xibo Android Player -- 2

We use the Xibo digital signage system (open source, AGPLv3 license) to manage and display content on Android screens. Our goal is to enable HDMI-IN input on the Android version of the Xibo Player, specifically for the Geniatech APC390K device, which already supports HDMI-IN at the hardware level through a custom firmware modification provided by Geniatech. The objective is to adapt this existing HDMI-IN integration for Xibo.

Key Details:
- Device: Geniatech APC390K (Amlogic-based)
- HDMI-IN: Already enabled via hardware and custom firmware; no new app development required
- Playback Behavior: HDMI-IN should play automatically on layout load
- Root Access: Can be enabled if needed
- Aspect Ratio: Fixed at 16:9 with letterboxing/pillarboxing as needed
- User Interaction: Passive playback only; no controls required
- Live Playback Only: No caching, recording, or storage needed

Additional Resources:
1. OnSign TV APK and logs showing how HDMI-IN is handled will be shared.
2. Firmware version/build number and accessible system files from the working build can be provided.
3. Observations suggest that HDMI-IN relies on a custom Android service or MediaCodec interface provided by Geniatech.
4. Remote access to the device or specific system file dumps can be arranged upon request.

Expected Deliverables:
1. A modified Xibo Android Player APK with integrated HDMI-IN support for the Geniatech APC390K device.
2. A CMS-integrated widget or feature to manage HDMI-IN content via layouts.
3. Complete documentation for installation and use.
4. Successful testing on our provided hardware.
