Ride Transparency Display App
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m a full-time Lyft and Uber driver, and I want my passengers to see, in real time, exactly what I earn from every ride. The goal is to create a small-scale, private MVP that can run just for me (and optionally a couple friends) to test the concept.
The app will be a simple tablet interface mounted on the back of the headrest, showing ride details automatically as soon as I accept a trip. This app is designed to improve transparency for passengers while also letting drivers share their earnings clearly — something not currently offered by Lyft or Uber.
Core Features / Workflow
Automated screenshot capture:
The driver phone automatically captures the on-screen summary from the Lyft/Uber driver app as soon as a ride is accepted (including fare estimate, pickup/drop-off, duration, and the amount I personally receive).
This must happen without any manual input from me during the ride.
Immediate wireless transfer to tablet:
The captured screenshot is sent in real time to the rear-seat tablet.
Local wireless methods (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi Direct, or similar) are preferred.
The tablet display updates immediately and always shows the latest ride info.
Previous ride details should be cleared once a trip ends.
Persistent profile display:
The tablet always shows a small profile card with my photo, “years on the road,” and a note about my interests.
This information should be editable through a simple settings menu.
Technical Preferences
Android tablets for the passenger display are fine.
Cross-platform frameworks like Flutter are acceptable if they speed development.
The driver phone side may run as a background service or companion app — whichever is most reliable for screenshot automation and secure local transfer.
Deliverables
Working APK(s) for driver phone and passenger tablet.
Full source code with build instructions.
Short setup guide for installing and pairing new devices.
Acceptance Criteria:
I can start a shift, accept a ride, and see the live ride details and profile on the back-seat tablet without touching the phone.
Screens refresh correctly for subsequent rides.
The app gracefully clears old ride info once the trip ends.
Requirements for Freelancers
Experience with background Android services, companion apps, or automated screenshot capture.
Familiarity with Bluetooth / Wi-Fi Direct data transfer between devices.
Ability to deliver complete source code and APKs so I own the app outright.
Optional: Any prior work integrating apps or automating UI elements would be a plus.
Notes / Small-Scale MVP Context
This is a private MVP; initial usage will be just myself or a couple friends.
The app does not need public distribution.
I’m open to developer suggestions for the most reliable technical approach for screenshot capture and transfer, as long as the workflow remains fully automatic and real-time.
