AGL App Developer Proposal: Offline Learning Platform Conversion

Project Overview
Alpha Gen Learning seeks an experienced Android app development team to convert our existing educational web platform into a fully offline-capable Android application. This app will run on a solar-powered 8-inch educational tablet targeting learners aged 3–13 in low-connectivity environments across the world.

The goal is to replicate and expand the current website functionality into an intuitive, responsive, and fully offline experience that integrates worksheet generation, curriculum-aligned learning videos, educational games, and child performance tracking. You will work closely with our design and educational teams to ensure the app meets our users' needs.
Core Objectives

- Transform StudyBank’s curriculum and worksheet engine into a standalone offline app.

- Integrate 60+ hours of lesson videos and 5 pre-developed learning games.

- Provide a flexible system for future content updates and syncs.

- Enable user progress tracking with offline storage and optional cloud sync.

- Design a child-friendly, educator-approved interface that is clear, secure, and scalable.

Functional Features
- Full offline worksheet generation -from stored question bank.

- Subject - Topic - Subtopic filter menus

- Dynamic rendering of question types: MCQ, true/false, written answer, cloze, image-based, etc.

- 60+ curriculum-aligned videos with playback engine

- Integration of 5 external game APKs
- User progress tracking and weak-topic flagging
- Sync engine that pushes student progress to cloud upon Wi-Fi reconnection

- Patchable content update engine with bundled updates
- Secure data storage and GDPR-compliant analytics

Content Uniformity & Reformatting
Our content database includes over 20,000 question items, ranging from basic arithmetic to image-based science questions. These will need to be standardized into a unified schema compatible with the offline app's rendering system. Developers may be required to assist with ingestion scripting or build a formatting pipeline that cleans up existing CSV/JSON/Markdown records into app-optimized structures.

User Progress & Performance Tracking
- Log user performance by subject, topic, and skill type

- Highlight struggling areas using thresholds e.g., more than 60% accuracy over 5+ attempts

- Visual display of tracked progress: badges, charts, or simple topic completion visuals.

- Save data locally in encrypted JSON or SQLite format

- Auto-sync this data to AGL servers when device regains connectivity

- Admins can access or request reports per student or class group

Multimedia & Game Integration
- Embed 60+ learning videos provided in MP4 format

- Videos should match each lesson page and be viewable offline

- Games provided as standalone APKs will need to be embedded or linked via launcher-style buttons
- UI must guide learners from worksheet, video, practice game smoothly

Offline Data Sync & Content Updates
- Sync trigger: manual or auto upon Wi-Fi reconnection

- System must upload usage data logs

- Check for new downloadable packs -worksheets/videos/lessons - hosted on AGL server

- Secure patch delivery system must validate and store all updated files

Security & Offline Data Handling
- No personal data stored: only anonymized usage patterns

- Data must be encrypted locally
- Logs purged after 24 months

- Child-friendly: no ads, no third-party trackers

- Teacher/Admin dashboard access restricted by code/pass
- GDPR and COPPA safe

Device Compatibility
Target Device:
- Android 10 Go Edition
- ARM Cortex A53, 3 GB RAM
- 1280×800 resolution, 64 GB storage
- Wi-Fi only, solar-rechargeable
- No SIM or cellular data expected
- Offline-first behavior required

Expected Developer Deliverables
1. Final signed APK and assets

2. Local content database: SQLite or similar

3. Patchable update system: script/tool for packaging updates

4. Optional CMS or admin dashboard - lightweight
5. Internal user manual / system logic documentation

Developer Insight Encouraged
While AGL has defined a strong structure, we are open to expert suggestions from developers regarding:

- More efficient offline data models

- Lightweight rendering systems

- Optimized patch systems or gamified UI flows
- Best practices for performance on low-spec hardware

Please feel confident suggesting alternatives where they improve durability, efficiency, or UX.
