Music Podcast Streaming App

Job ID: 40254009

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I’m building an entertainment platform called “Understane” that will stream both music and podcasts. The core focus is a smooth, on-demand listening experience that lets users discover, play, and manage audio content without friction.

Here’s what I need from you: design and develop the full streaming flow—upload/ingest, cloud storage, adaptive audio delivery, playback, search, and basic account management. A clean, modern UI for browsing catalogues, queuing tracks or episodes, and following favourite creators is essential. Think Spotify-style responsiveness, but tailored to an indie catalogue that will initially be a few thousand tracks and podcast episodes.

Key points
• Platform: iOS and Android first; a lightweight web player is a bonus if time allows.
• Tech: Whatever stack you’re most productive with—React Native, Flutter, or native builds are all acceptable so long as performance is solid and the codebase is maintainable.
• Must-haves: secure user login, playlist creation, search/autocomplete, adaptive bitrate streaming, episode download for offline use, and basic analytics hooks (plays, skips, likes).
• Nice-to-haves: social sharing, dark mode, push notifications for new releases.

Deliverables
1. Source code with clear build instructions.
2. Deployed staging build for testing.
3. Minimal admin interface to upload or update audio assets and metadata.
4. Short hand-off document covering architecture, hosting choices, and how to scale the catalogue.

Acceptance criteria: the app streams 128 kbps or better audio over 4G without stutter, passes App/Play Store guidelines, and the admin can upload a new podcast episode that appears in users’ search within two minutes.

If this aligns with your skill set and you can hit those deliverables, I’d love to see examples of similar music or podcast apps you’ve shipped and hear how you’d approach Understane.
