Multi-Feature Fitness Tracker Development & Manufacturing
Budget: $750 – $1,500 AUD
THIS IS NOT JUST AN APP DEVELOPMENT JOB.
Seeking a Hardware + Software Developer: Custom Fitness Tracker Module & Companion App (iOS/Android)
We're looking for a skilled developer or development team to design and build a custom fitness tracker module, the actual sensor hardware and firmware. We ideally need are looking to have this paired with a companion mobile app compatible with both iOS and Android. This is not an app-only project; we need someone who can engineer the physical sensing module itself, not just build software around an existing off-the-shelf chipset. Our design is to add the technology into a durable everyday leather band to accompany individuals who already wear luxury watches, see files for design images.
Health metrics the module must support:
Heart rate monitoring
Heart rate variability (HRV)
Atrial fibrillation (AFib) detection
Blood oxygen level (SpO2)
Breathing rate
Sleep stage tracking
Cardio load
Daily readiness score
Required sensors:
Optical heart rate sensor
3-axis accelerometer
Gyroscope
Red and infrared SpO2 sensors
Skin temperature sensor
Scope of work:
Module/hardware design: sensor selection, PCB layout, firmware, power management, and Bluetooth connectivity
Signal processing and algorithm development to convert raw sensor data into the health metrics above
Companion app development for iOS and Android, with real-time syncing and historical data visualisation
Data validation against clinical or industry benchmarks where applicable (especially for AFib detection and SpO2 accuracy)
Ideal candidate profile:
Proven experience in wearable hardware and embedded systems, ideally in health/fitness or medical devices
Strong background in mobile app development (iOS and Android)
Expertise integrating multiple sensors and processing real-time biometric data
Solid understanding of health metrics, signal processing, and data analysis
Experience navigating relevant regulatory considerations (e.g., FDA guidance for AFib/SpO2 features) is a plus
If you have this combination of hardware and software expertise, I'd love to see your proposal, including relevant past work, your approach to sensor/algorithm validation, and estimated timeline and budget.
