Help me Design an IoT project
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I have an idea about an IoT project which i want to make. I only have some C programming skills and not a lot of experience about circuits etc... I have a few ideas about how to make a prototype, but not a complete picture. I am open to any suggestions.
The basic concept is that there is a sphere through which a string passes, The sphere keeps moving whilst passing trough a hollow cylinder (imagine a car in a race track and that race track has a small tunnel as a part of the race course) . I need to make a device that can measure the number of times that the sphere has passed through the cylinder and send it to an Android device connected using bluetooth, real time.
The device should be able to fit inside the hollow sphere itself or can be put in a cuboid adjacent to the sphere attached to the string depending on the size of the device. To put it into perspective the size of the sphere is only a Two centimetres in diameter, the cuboid can be a maximum of 3cms in length and 1.5 cms in breadth and 1.5 cms in height. All of the components must be able to fit into either the cuboid or the sphere or both if necessary.
The cost of Components cannot be more than 20$ USD.
My idea so far has been to put a sensor (maybe a light sensor or IR sensor) inside the sphere and a Attiny 85, a 100 mah LiPo, a HC-05 and a TP-4056 charger in an adjacent cuboid. But this has quite a few problems the sensor will probably not fit, the circuits involving a tp-4056, Attiny a battery and a HC-05 will probably get too big for the cuboid, Also i use a perf board since it's cheaper than a PCB and i don' t know how to design PCBs which also increases the size.
So i am looking for suggestions regarding the design/components i must use to achieve the goal. I am open to any help/suggestions/design ideas. Since i used to tinker around with Arduinos i would appreciate it if the solution can be understood/executed by an Arduino hobbyist. Thanks!
