Mobile App Designer Job Overview

We are looking for an Android/iOS mobile application designer to help us design the next generation of our mobile apps. You will create mock-ups that will be used to develop our apps. Ideally, you should be familiar with current trends in mobile app design and create high-quality designs that are both functional and visually appealing. An ideal candidate will be a problem-solving creative who can use a wide range of design tools, has extensive work experience, and communicates well with the rest of the development team.

Mobile App Designer Responsibilities

Below are some of the responsibilities of mobile app designers:



Use web development best practices to create well-designed, testable, and efficient source code
Create basic website layouts and user interfaces using HTML and CSS
Integrate data from a variety of back-end services and databases
Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical requirements
Create and maintain software documentation
Take charge of developing, expanding, and scaling our fully-responsive website
Apply emerging technologies and industry trends to operations and activities
Work with android developers and ios developers to realize visual design intent and improve user experience across all mobile devices
Mobile App Designer Requirements

Mobile app designers are expected to have the following skills:

A bachelor's degree in computer science, programming languages, application development, or a related field
Experience as a graphic designer or in a related field, with at least two years of experience designing mobile apps
Experience with photography and videography
Demonstrated graphic design skills with a strong portfolio
Proficiency with required desktop publishing tools, including Photoshop, InDesign, QuarkXPress, and Illustrator
Excellent sense of layout and typography
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Familiarity with marketing, corporate identity, product packaging, advertisements, and multimedia design
Experience with computer-aided design
Proficiency in web development tools, such as Dreamweaver
Experience with mobile SDKs and APIs
Experience with design pattern libraries such as Bootstrap and Foundation
Capable of working in a fast-paced environment
Capable of meeting deadlines
Self-initiative and self-management skills
Able to work independently as well as in a team
Experience with agile development and design methodologies
Understanding of the Lean UX process
Experience with user-centered design and usability testing
Experience with visual hierarchy, mobile-friendly web design, and responsive web design
