Android Content Management App Development

I need a native Android application whose sole purpose is to let me create, edit, organise and search text-based content from within the phone itself. Think of it as a lightweight CMS stripped down to just what is required for handling plain text articles, notes and pages.

The workflow I have in mind is straightforward: from the home screen I should be able to add a new page, assign it to a category, and later revisit it for quick edits or full rewrites. A clean, intuitive editor with basic formatting (headings, lists, bold, italics) is essential, but I do not need image or video support for this version—text management only.

Code quality matters more than visual polish. Please structure the project so future features can be slotted in easily (MVVM or another modern pattern is welcome), keep classes small and purposeful, name resources clearly, and comment any non-obvious logic. I work comfortably with Java or Kotlin and will be reviewing the code, so readability is critical. If you prefer one language over the other, let me know; I am open as long as the project is consistent.

Because I will eventually integrate other modules, I would like the UI separated from the data layer and any business logic placed behind interfaces. A local Room database is fine for storage. No backend is required right now, but leave enough abstraction to hook one up later.

Deliverables:
• Full Android Studio project with clean, well-documented source code
• Debug-ready APK for initial testing and a signed release build at hand-off
• A brief README explaining project structure, major classes and how to build/run the app
