Universal Android File Converter App
Budget: ₹600 – ₹1,500 INR
I’m building a mobile tool that lets users open a file stored locally on their Android device and, in just a few taps, save it in a different format. The primary flow is simple: browse internal storage, pick any file, choose the target format from a concise list, watch a progress bar, then find the converted file in a user-selectable folder.
Scope and expectations
• Local-storage only: the first release must work entirely offline, pulling files from internal memory or an SD card.
• Broad format coverage: at minimum the core document pairings (PDF ↔ Word, Excel → PDF) should work, with room to expand into images, audio or video once the architecture is proven.
• Clean UI: Material-compliant, lightweight, and clear about supported conversions.
• Reliable engine: feel free to integrate FFmpeg, PDFBox, iText, Apache POI, or similar libraries, provided licenses remain compatible with a Play-Store release.
• Modular code: one well-documented conversion interface so I can drop in additional format handlers later.
• Android Studio project (Kotlin or Java), targeting API 24+ with proper runtime permission handling.
Deliverables
– Release-ready APK
– Full source code and build instructions
– Brief README covering added libraries, compile steps, and how to extend supported formats
– Short screen-capture demo showing at least one successful conversion round-trip
I’ll test by converting sample PDFs to Word and back, plus a quick image or audio check if you include those handlers. If the app runs smoothly, produces valid output, and matches the UX described, the milestone is met.
