Real-Time Android Bus Tracker App

Job ID: 40387466

Budget: $10 – $30 USD

I need a production-ready Android application that lets passengers, bus drivers, and administrators see exactly where every bus is in real time. The core of the build is GPS-based live tracking displayed on a Google-style map view, coupled with dynamic ETA calculations so users always know how many minutes remain until the next stop.

Key workflow
• Passengers open the app, pick a route, watch buses move on the map, and receive push notifications when their chosen bus is running late or is about to arrive.
• Drivers log in to update their status, start or end a trip, and automatically stream location data in the background.
• Administrators access an in-app dashboard (or a lightweight web console, if that is easier) to add routes, manage schedules, and monitor fleet performance.

Must-have features
1. Live bus tracking on an interactive map with smooth marker animation.
2. Accurate estimated-time-of-arrival alerts based on real-time traffic and current speed.
3. Route planning and stop-by-stop information for every line.
4. Push notifications for all user roles covering delays, schedule changes, and service announcements.
5. Secure sign-in with role-based views (Passenger, Driver, Admin).
6. A simple backend (Firebase, AWS, or your suggested stack) that stores routes, schedules, and location streams efficiently.

Deliverables
• Full Android Studio project with clean, well-commented Java code.
• Backend source, database schema, and deployment instructions.
• API documentation and a short user guide so I can onboard new drivers and admins myself.
• One-week post-handover support to squash any urgent bugs.

• build debug APK that can be shared with users to install it in physical devices and interact with directly

If you have previous work with GPS, Google Maps SDK, Firebase Cloud Messaging, or similar tech, please share it; it will help me decide quickly. I’m ready to start as soon as I find the right developer.
