Develop the official RailJournal India Android app on top of an already existing open-source GitHub project (to be provided), by customizing, integrating core features, and optimizing for public release.
Scope of Work
Setup & Base Integration
Clone and configure the provided GitHub Android project.
Ensure the base app runs successfully on local development environment.
Branding & UI/UX Customization
Apply RailJournal India’s branding (logo, colors, typography).
Modify layouts and navigation for better user experience.
Feature Development & Integration
RailRadar:
Integrate RailRadar API to display real-time train tracking on India’s map.
Use mapping libraries (Leaflet preferred, Mapbox optional).
Train Loco API Checker:
Build a module for users to input train number & date.
Fetch locomotive details from our API and display results.
Push Notifications:
Implement Firebase Cloud Messaging to send updates to all app users.
Code Optimization & Cleanup
Remove irrelevant/unnecessary features from the base app.
Ensure code structure is clean and maintainable.
Testing & Optimization
Ensure compatibility with Android SDK 24+ (Target SDK 34+).
Test across various devices and screen sizes.
Optimize performance and loading times.
Final Deliverables
Fully functional and tested Android app.
Source code with clear build instructions.
APK file ready for Google Play Store deployment.
