Android People-Tracking App Build
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m developing an Android-only application that can pinpoint and monitor people’s locations in real time. The core of the project is reliable, low-latency updates displayed on a clean Google-Maps-style interface, coupled with two companion functions: a complete location history for each tracked profile and configurable geofencing that triggers push or SMS alerts the instant a user steps in or out of a defined zone.
To make the experience seamless, background tracking must remain stable even when the device is locked or the app is swiped away, and battery impact needs to be minimised. I also need a lightweight web-based dashboard (or an in-app admin panel—your call) where I can view all active users, create/edit geofences, and export trip logs as CSV.
Deliverables
• Full Android Studio project with readable, well-commented Kotlin or Java code
• Signed release APK + install guide
• Brief README outlining setup of any mapping, push-notification, or real-time database services you choose (Firebase Realtime Database, Firestore, AWS Amplify, etc.)
• One-week post-delivery support for critical bug fixes
Acceptance criteria
1. Real-time location updates visible within two seconds on a 4G connection
2. Geofence alerts fire 95 %+ of the time in live tests
3. Location history retains at least 30 days of data per user and can be exported
If you’ve built GPS, IoT, or fleet apps before and know your way around Google Maps SDK, FusedLocationProvider, or equivalent libraries, I’d love to see a short note on your approach and a link to any similar work.
