Android Asset Inspection & PDF Reports

Job ID: 40517249

Budget: £250 – £750 GBP

I need a straightforward Android app that lets field staff collect asset-related inspection data, attach photos on the spot, and then produce a clean, branded PDF report automatically once they hit “submit.”

Core workflow
• User opens the app, selects or creates an asset, fills in the inspection form, snaps the required photos, and saves.
• When the form is completed, the app compiles all inputs (text, photo thumbnails, time/date, inspector name) into a well-formatted PDF and prompts the user to share or store it locally/on the device.

Key requirements
• Native Android build (Java or Kotlin).
• Reliable in-app photo capture with compression so PDFs stay lightweight.
• Offline first: the inspector must be able to work without a signal and sync when connectivity returns.
• Customisable form fields so I can add or edit inspection points myself later via a simple JSON or admin screen.
• Auto-generated PDF must respect our logo, footer, and a consistent layout.

Deliverables
1. Full Android Studio project with commented source.
2. Installable APK for testing.
3. One reusable PDF template plus the code that populates it.
4. Quick start guide covering build, deploy, and how to modify form fields.

Acceptance criteria
• Form submission generates a PDF identical to the provided mock-up, including embedded photos.
• No data loss when toggling between offline and online modes.
• App runs smoothly on Android 9+.

I’m ready to supply the logo, colour palette, and an example of the report layout as soon as we start. Let me know your proposed tech approach and timeline so we can move ahead.
