GTM gclid Subdomain Transfer
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
The Google Ads click ID is being lost when visitors move from start.website.com to my.website.com. Both sites already have their own Google Tag Manager containers, and I only need the gclid moved across—no extra campaign parameters or user data.
Here is what I’m expecting:
• Configure GTM so the gclid arriving on start.website.com is captured and appended to, or otherwise made available on, the button that links to my.website.com.
• Ensure the gclid is present in the URL (or stored in a first-party cookie) when the visitor lands on my.website.com, ready for our third-party HIPAA-compliant analytics platform to read.
• Provide a brief walkthrough of the tags, triggers, variables, and any custom JavaScript you add, plus a simple test plan I can rerun after future releases.
Both containers are already installed and publishing correctly; access to each GTM workspace and the sites themselves will be provided. Once your solution keeps the gclid intact through the hop between subdomains and passes a quick tag assistant test, the job is done.
