Make recordings in sign language
Budget: $2 – $8 USD
Requirements:
1 ) Knowledge of American or Filipino Sign Language (ASL or FSL)
2) Preference for a deaf/hard of hearing individual or a hearing person who is fluent in sign language. A hearing person who is fluent could be a: 1) someone with a background in deaf education or sign language interpreting, 2) child of a deaf adult (CODA), or 3) someone who has spent multiple years learning sign language
3) Good internet connection: greater than 10 Mbps.
Description of Job:
You will be sent an initial email with a link for a website to set up a password associated with your email address. Once your password information has been set up, you can begin making sign language recordings on the website.
The process of making sign language recordings is very simple. You will be shown a video of a word in American Sign Language, and then you can press the "record" button on the site to begin recording yourself signing that word. Once you are done signing the word, you press the "stop" button. Then, you have the option to press either the "submit" button to submit the recording, or press the "delete" button to delete the recording and make a new recording. Each word has a short video showing how to sign that word and a longer video that shows in detail the handshapes used to sign the word, in addition to showing how to sign the word from multiple angles.
The recordings you make will not be shown to the public. They will be used to teach Artificial Intelligence to understand sign language. There are around 2,700 words that need to be signed. There are also additional words that need to be spelled using the letter of the American Sign Language alphabet. It is estimated that it will take around 8 hours to go through all 2,700 words and submit them through the site. If the recordings that you make are done correctly, there will be an option to do additional recordings of the same words again through the site.
