Resolve Errors in Importing AWS AMIs

I have an image from an EC2 instance running Ubuntu 18.04, kernel version 4.15 that was exported to a VMDK in S3. On attempting to import the image back I am getting the following error message: "ClientError: Unsupported kernel version 5.4.0-1080-aws". The kernel version was originally 5.4 and was downgraded to 4.15 before creating the image. Need assistance fixing this issue.
