Fixing a WordPress website hosted on AWS Lightsail which was earlier working and now showing database connection error

I had a Wordpress website hosted on AWS Lightsail. The website was functional and accessible. Yesterday I installed a plugin to the website and activated and the website is now showing database connection error. Within AWS Lightsail checking Metrics, the instance status checks and system status check are showing as failing.
I have snapshots of the website before installing the plugin. However after creating instance from snapshot, when I access the instance using ip, it is also showing database connection error. I need to resolve this urgently as website is in production. I think only someone with sufficient experience in both AWS and Wordpress will only be able to fix it fast.
