Digital video surveillance with a service based business model

Personal physical security continues to be a concern for most locally. A hindrance for many to acquire the typical CCTV set-up is its cost and complexity. This project aspires to provide a CCTV service (not a product) that solves both these problems. The intent is to take advantage of two components to build the technology platform. First is access to OEM in China for configurable camera systems. Second are internet Cloud services that enable storage, playback, anywhere-access, and other capabilities. Both components are integral in building a pay-as-you-use service that will improve cost for the customer.

AWS cloud services are intended to be used in the backend. The main digital video feed service is - AWS Kinesis Video Streams. Its capabilities will enable real time video footage viewing, as well as pre-processing for storage and later play back. The stored videos will be stored in AWS S3, specific tier to be determined. It will also utilize AWS Dynamo DB to manage metadata. Finally, AWS Lambda server-less functions will be used to facilitate video storage and file management.
