Creaete PHP websocket script to connect to a remote server

My company is working with a partner company which provides a data collection service. My company AWS EC2 needs to make a socket connection to the partner company server to retrieve this data.
I require a PHP script created to be hosted on my AWS EC2 web server to call the partner remote server with various calls to retrieve the JSON response.
Phase 1: prototype a simple script to connect to partner server via web socket and receive and write a response successfully. Pass the script to me to host on my EC2 and run via php page load.
