AWS Environment Update - Ubuntu & PostgreSQL
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I'm using AWS.
AWS sent me the following two messages:
=====
We are sending this email to provide you with an update on Ubuntu 20 blueprint availability on Amazon Lightsail. The existing Ubuntu 20 blueprint will be reaching end of standard support on April 2, 2025 [1], and it will be removed from Lightsail on April 2, 2025. As a result, you will not be able to create new instances with this blueprint on Lightsail on or after April 2, 2025. This blueprint will also be removed from the response of Lightsail "get-blueprints" command in the AWS Command Line Interface (CLI) and corresponding Application Programming Interface (API).
A list of your affected resources can be reviewed in the "Affected Resources" tab of your AWS Health Dashboard.
This change does not impact existing instances, therefore, you can continue using your existing instances that were created with this blueprint. You can also create new instances from the instance snapshots that were created with this blueprint [2].
We recommend upgrading your existing instances to the new version, Ubuntu 24 [3], by following the instructions on the Ubuntu Page [4]. Before taking any upgrade action, please consider backing up your instance by creating a snapshot [2]. During the upgrade process, you may receive prompts. We recommend that you select the option of "keep the local version currently installed" when prompted to avoid potential instance misconfiguration.
For more information about the Ubuntu 20 blueprint, see [5]. For more information about the Ubuntu 24, see the Ubuntu Blog [6].
If you have questions or concerns, please contact AWS Support [7].
=====
You are receiving this email because you have one or more databases running on PostgreSQL 12 [1] blueprint on Amazon Lightsail.
PostgreSQL 12 database version will reach its end of life on November 14, 2024 [2], and will no longer receive security patches from the open-source community. Starting February 28, 2025, you will not be able to create a new database with PostgreSQL 12 blueprint on Lightsail. This blueprint will also be removed from the response of Lightsail "get-relational-database-blueprints" command in the AWS Command Line Interface (CLI) and corresponding Application Programming Interface (API).
A list of your affected resources is available in the "Affected resources" tab of your AWS Health Dashboard.
You can continue using your existing PostgreSQL 12 database(s), and you will still be able create databases from the database snapshots [3] that were created with PostgreSQL 12 blueprint. However, we recommend upgrading your existing databases [4] to a higher major version such as PostgreSQL 16. PostgreSQL 16 offers community support, latest features, and improved performance over the older versions. Before any upgrade action, please consider backing up your database by creating a snapshot [5].
If you have questions or concerns, please contact AWS Support [6].
=====
I need someone who can update what I have to accommodate the above changes.
