AWS EKS Setup, Management, and Optimization
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I am looking for an experienced AWS and Kubernetes expert to brind me up to speed with knowledge needed to set up, configure, and optimize an
AWS EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service) cluster with best practices for security, scalability, monitoring, and CI/CD integration.
The project will include infrastructure provisioning, networking, observability, security hardening, and automation.
Project Scope:
1. Cluster Provisioning & Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
- Use eksctl or Terraform for EKS cluster setup.
- Define worker node groups and autoscaling configurations.
2. Kubernetes Configuration & Management:
- Install and configure kubectl , Helm , and Kustomize .
- Set up cluster RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) and IAM roles.
- Configure ArgoCD or FluxCD for GitOps-based deployment management.
3. Networking & Security:
- Configure AWS VPC CNI for cluster networking.
- Implement AWS Load Balancer Controller for ingress management.
- Set up a service mesh using Istio or Linkerd .
- Optional :Enforce security policies using Kyverno or OPA Gatekeeper .
- Optional: Implement Kube-bench security auditing and compliance checks.
4. Monitoring & Logging:
- Set up Amazon CloudWatch , Prometheus , and Grafana for observability.
- Implement FluentBit or Loki for centralized logging.
- Configure alerts and dashboards for proactive monitoring.
5. CI/CD Integration & Automation:
- Set up AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions for automated deployments.
- Implement Argo Workflows or Tekton for Kubernetes-native CI/CD pipelines.
- Automate infrastructure changes using Terraform or Pulumi .
6. Optional: Autoscaling & Cost Optimization:
- Configure Cluster Autoscaler and Karpenter for optimized resource scaling.
- Implement HPA (Horizontal Pod Autoscaler) and VPA (Vertical Pod Autoscaler) .
- Provide cost optimization recommendations for AWS resources.
Deliverables:
- Fully configured AWS EKS cluster with best practices.
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or eksctl) scripts for cluster provisioning.
- Documented Kubernetes configurations, Helm charts, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Monitoring dashboards, security policies, and logging setup.
- Knowledge transfer or training session (optional but preferred).
Required Skills:
- Strong experience with AWS EKS, Kubernetes, and Terraform .
- Hands-on expertise with Helm, ArgoCD, Prometheus, and CI/CD tools .
- Knowledge of Kubernetes security, networking, and service meshes .
- Familiarity with AWS IAM, VPC CNI, Load Balancers, and autoscaling .
- Experience in GitOps and Kubernetes-native deployment automation .
