AWS Backend Developer for Small Scale Streaming Platform
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I'm seeking a highly skilled AWS Backend Developer to update the backend infrastructure for a small scale live streaming platform and take it from Proof of Concept to production ready. The project involves creating and or updating serverless components using AWS services including Lambda, CloudFormation, RDS, and S3. The backend will manage live video stream ingestion, stream archiving while leveraging AWS infrastructure for scalability.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deploy Lambda functions to manage live streaming (start/stop stream) using the Serverless Framework.
Write CloudFormation templates to provision EC2 instances with pre-configured Nginx + RTMP modules, along with CloudFront CDN distributions for live streaming.
Set up and manage an Amazon RDS (MySQL/PostgreSQL) instance to store metadata related to live streams.
Implement API Gateway for exposing HTTP endpoints (start/stop stream) and ensure security through proper authentication and access control.
Handle post-stream archiving by uploading HLS streams to Amazon S3 for future playback.
Configure security groups, VPC settings, and IAM roles to ensure secure and efficient communication between Lambda functions, RDS, and other AWS services.
Set up CloudWatch for logging, monitoring, and alerting on backend performance.
Provide detailed documentation for all infrastructure and deployment configurations.
Skills Required:
Strong experience with AWS services, particularly Lambda, CloudFormation, EC2, RDS, S3, API Gateway, and CloudFront.
Expertise with the Serverless Framework to manage and deploy AWS resources.
Hands-on experience with RDS (MySQL/PostgreSQL) for managing relational data in a serverless environment.
Familiarity with live streaming protocols such as RTMP and HLS, and how to implement them with Nginx.
Experience setting up VPC, security groups, and IAM roles for secure communication between services.
Proficiency in Node.js and integrating it with AWS SDKs for Lambda function development.
Strong knowledge of API development and serverless architecture.
Experience with AWS CloudWatch for monitoring Lambda performance, logs, and creating alarms.
Familiarity with best practices for security, scalability, and cost optimization in AWS environments.
Bonus Skills:
Experience with CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline or other tools.
Knowledge of video streaming platforms or experience in building live streaming solutions.
Familiarity with Amazon Cognito for user authentication and authorization.
