JavaScript Encoding Issue Fix

I need a JavaScript expert to help me resolve an encoding issue when posting data from a form.
Currently, when I post text data from my register form, the encoding in the database does not match the encoding in the form data. For example, the name "Māris Semenovičs" shows up in the database as "MÄris SemeniÄs". This issue needs to be fixed at the JavaScript level before the data is sent to the MySQL database, which is set to UTF-8.
