From recommendation algorithms on streaming platforms to decision-making in healthcare and law enforcement, AI increasingly influences human choices. This project aims to explore the ways in which AI affects human decision-making processes and the ethical and social consequences that arise from this influence. • To examine how AI systems influence individual and collective decision-making
• To analyze the ethical implications of AI-driven choices in critical areas (e.g., healthcare, criminal justice, employment)
• To evaluate public perception and trust in AI systems
• To suggest guidelines or frameworks for responsible AI integration
1. Literature Review
A review of existing academic research, reports from institutions like the EU or UNESCO, and articles by AI ethicists (e.g., Timnit Gebru, Nick Bostrom).
2. Case Studies
• COMPAS algorithm in US courts (criminal sentencing bias)
• AI in recruitment tools (Amazon’s discontinued AI recruitment system)
• AI in medical diagnostics
3. Survey or Interview (optional)
A small-scale survey on students’ opinions on AI decision-making and privacy concerns.
• While AI can support efficiency and consistency, it may also reinforce existing biases.
• Ethical concerns include transparency, accountability, and the “black box” nature of many AI systems.
• Societal impacts depend on how AI systems are designed, who controls them, and how they are regulated.
