Senior Systems Engineer L3 – Azure, Proxmox/Ceph, PowerShell, Python (MSSP)

We are a fast-growing Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer (Level 3) with strong leadership skills to support and lead our L1/L2 engineering team.
You will be responsible for advanced system design, implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and escalations across on-prem, virtualized, and cloud environments, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Proxmox/Ceph, and automation (PowerShell/Python).
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain Windows Server, Azure, and Microsoft 365 environments for multiple clients.
Architect, deploy, and manage Proxmox clusters with Ceph storage, including high availability, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
Serve as L3 escalation point for complex tickets from L1/L2 engineers, and provide guidance, documentation, and mentorship.
Automate routine tasks using PowerShell and/or Python (provisioning, monitoring, reporting, maintenance).
Manage and troubleshoot AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO, IIS, VPNs, remote access, and backup/DR solutions.
Work with RMM/ticketing tools, monitor infrastructure health, and ensure SLAs are met for our managed clients.
Collaborate with management and clients to scope, plan, and deliver infrastructure projects.
Must-have skills
Strong experience as Senior / L3 Systems Engineer in an MSP/MSSP or similar multi-client environment.
Hands-on experience with:
Microsoft Azure (IaaS, networking, identity, security).
Microsoft 365 / Office 365 administration.
Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP.
Proxmox VE and Ceph storage (cluster design, maintenance, troubleshooting).
Strong PowerShell scripting skills; Python automation experience is a plus.
Experience with RMM and ticketing systems in a managed services environment.
Excellent written and spoken English and ability to document and standardize procedures.
Nice to have
Experience with firewalls and networking (e.g., SonicWALL, Fortinet, Cisco, Meraki, Ubiquiti).
Experience with Citrix XenApp, Parallels, Nerdio, or AVD/VDI solutions.
Relevant Microsoft Azure / Microsoft 365 certifications.
Availability
More than 30 hrs/week.
Long-term engagement (6+ months) with potential for ongoing work.
