Remodel Estimating Sheet Overhaul
Budget: $29 – $400 USD
My current Excel workbook prices both residential and commercial remodels, yet it’s clunky, fragile, and time-consuming to update. I need it transformed into a clean, intuitive tool that anyone on my crew can open, fill in project details, and instantly receive reliable numbers—no guesswork, no broken formulas.
Here’s what I want improved
• Design and layout: clearer tabs, color-coded input cells, and an at-a-glance summary tab.
• Formulas and calculations: modern, error-proof math that automatically pulls Material, Labor, and Overhead rates into each estimate.
• Data entry process: structured tables, drop-downs, and data validation so inputs stay consistent.
Key new functionality
• Automated pricing buckets for material, labor, and overhead, selectable by project type.
• Side-by-side residential and commercial rate tables with a simple toggle.
• A margin dashboard that shows total cost, markup, and recommended selling price.
Deliverables
1. Re-engineered, user-friendly Excel file (Office 365 compatible) with protected formulas and unlocked inputs.
2. Brief documentation or quick screen-recording on maintaining cost tables and adding future project types.
3. (Nice-to-have) A small VBA or Power Query routine to refresh price lists from a CSV.
If you’re fluent in advanced Excel—named ranges, structured references, data validation, conditional formatting, and light VBA—let’s streamline this sheet and get my estimating process running smoothly.
